Why You'll Love This Recipe

Quick and Easy: Takes just 15 minutes to assemble with zero cooking time required.

Dairy-Free & Whole30 Friendly: Creamy avocado replaces traditional mozzarella, making this a delicious dairy-free alternative to classic Caprese.

Simple, Fresh Ingredients: Made with fresh basil, ripe cherry tomatoes, avocados, and a rich balsamic glaze drizzle.

Perfect Party Appetizer: Assembling these on toothpicks makes them an easy, bite-sized finger food for gatherings and summer BBQs.

Ingredients

2 Avocados: Sliced into bite-sized cubes. Fresh from our grove!

1 Cup Cherry Tomatoes: Cut in half, or left whole depending on size.

1/2 Cup Fresh Basil Leaves: Fresh basil leaves picked right off the stem.

2 Tbsp Balsamic Glaze: Drizzled over top before serving.

How to Make Avocado Caprese Salad

Prep the Avocados: Cut your avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Lay the avocado flat side down on a cutting board and cut into 1-inch pieces.

Prep Tomatoes & Basil: Slice your cherry tomatoes in half if desired. Remove fresh basil leaves from the stem.

Assemble the Skewers: Thread one piece of avocado, one piece of tomato, and one basil leaf onto each toothpick.

Drizzle & Serve: Place assembled skewers on a platter, drizzle with balsamic glaze on top, and enjoy immediately!

Tips for Success

Firm Avocados Work Best: Choose avocados that are ripe but still slightly firm so they hold their shape on the toothpicks without slipping off.

Use Toothpicks or Mini Skewers: Assembling these on toothpicks makes them the perfect bite-sized appetizer for easy serving at parties.

Drizzle Just Before Serving: Add the balsamic glaze right before setting the dish out to keep the ingredients looking fresh and vibrant.

Recipe FAQs

Can I make Avocado Caprese Salad ahead of time?

You can slice the tomatoes and pick the basil leaves a few hours in advance. However, it’s best to cut the avocados and assemble the skewers right before serving so the avocado stays fresh and green.

How do I keep the avocado from browning?

If you need to assemble these a bit before serving, give the avocado cubes a gentle toss or squeeze of fresh lemon juice before assembling on toothpicks.

What can I serve with this salad?

This dish works wonderfully as a standalone appetizer, or served as a light side dish alongside grilled chicken, fish, or your favorite summer entrees.
